being a teenager, its hard to get to know other people, especially in highschool. cliques, and 'social classes' and that kind of stuff can make it hard to meet new people. so i was wondering what are some good ways to avoid social awkwardness but develop interpersonal skills?
The best way is to actively participate in several diverse activities and never skip an opportunity to meet and talk to someone within a social context.
You can only improve with practice and patience with yourself. And, you must choose to focus much of your attention on the other person, rather than yourself. During a conversation, make sure that you are not always turning every comment or question into a soliloquy about your own feelings and your own life. Seek an empathetic state and you will be rewarded by the law of reciprocity.
