I agree with Madeamove's answer. I might add that we Baha'is have a lot of guidance on what to do if we are living in poverty (materially, I mean).
Firstly, I can share some things with you, but when I was living below poverty, I found them very hard to do. I hope I can do them better if I am in the same situation again, and admire anyone who I meet who does them. In my opinion, if you want to find some (material) help when you are poor (materially), your best bet is to make friends with another poor person.
So here goes–in my own words. Think about what true wealth is. You have 3 kids. Wow, that is a wonderful thing, right? I'll bet your home is full of activity and hopefully laughter and joy. If so, God is blessing you.
The rich need to share their wealth with the poor and watch out for them, but the poor also need to do their part by working hard to make a living, just as you're trying to do to get out of poverty. Think of what you can do to serve others, and ask for God's help in discovering your (maybe hidden) talents that will help you to earn a living for you and your children. Do you have any skills, crafts, etc. that you can do, which don't require money to get started?
This is just an example of something I was successful at. If you are good at playing with children, you can advertise babysitting for whatever age of children that you already have. I babysat for my coworkers one year and made the same salary as they did, because I did not buy anything as I babysat children who could play with my children's toys. Home daycares can usually become licensed for free by the state, and if you live in a low-income area, you can probably find people who really need child care and the govt will pay you for taking care of their children. Since you mentioned depression, which I don't blame you in your situation, anyone thinking of doing this should make sure they are emotionally stable first, for the good of the children.
Are there any ways you can find to reduce your living costs? I heard that people are starting to think about living with another family in the same house, kind of like the Chinese do. Each person in their household chooses a task. For example, one person will go out and earn money, bring it back and share it with the rest of the people in the home. Another person will cook and clean, and another will help the children with their homework, etc. etc.
My last tip is to check on welfare options. I mentioned before that the rich are responsible for protecting and helping the poor, and welfare is one, although currently far from perfect, system of helping the poor. Please take time to go and check on what kind of assistance you can get from the government, because your 3 kids need it.
You are on the right path–thinking about how you want to help others. This is the key as we all build up our new economy. The old economy is crumbling around us, which is caused by "the greed of a few" who wanted to make easy money, and then more easy money, without regard for others and the effect it would have on the people who they were supposed to be serving. We all need to work together to build up the new economy, which must be based on ethical foundations, or it, too, will fail.
Your willingness to work hard even though you're faced with such odds is admirable. If you continue to strive, you are going to attract blessings to you and your family!
Some will say that this outlook is too idealistic, but you know what, my Baha'i friends and I are going to do whatever we can, and we are going to keep on trying to be part of the solution and hope as many people as possible will join in, like yourself, in whatever way you want, whatever religious or other background you have!

John, get outa my head! lol Kidding aside.
God has a plan that is bigger than any one individual or group of people and the "abundant life' spoken of and promised exceeds the accumulation of material things. Even money. He doesn't forget us, we step out of His protective hedge and start trying to 'get there' on our own. At that point His hands are tied because He will not force His Will on us.
I can only speak for myself, but just this week, I was believing I must have fallen through the cracks when He wasn't looking. Not only that, I was angry with Him for allowing it to happen. (God please forgive me.) I went to church with my sister yesterday and through the sermon I realized I am where I am in life because I have a job to do. Had I been living the "Abundant Life" as some see it, I would have lost all track of what is really going on here. In consideration of recent national events and coming hardships many people who are living cushy lives now are gonna find themselves.wondering what to do and how to survive. You and I are learning that lesson now and hopefully will be able to help. This may not change the circumstances we are living in but knowing it serves a purpose makes it bearable. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11/1) Therein are the answers to our questions. While I don't have answers for how to earn money at home, He does. Godspeed

http://info.bahai.org/article-1-7-4-1.html is a very comprehensive statement on how to solve the worlds' economic problems for people of all economic levels. Here's an example of what you will find in this article: "May each morn be better than its eve and each morrow richer than its yesterday. Man's merit lieth in service and virtue and not in the pageantry of wealth and riches… Be generous in your days of plenty, and be patient in the hour of loss. Adversity is followed by success and rejoicings follow woe. Guard against idleness and sloth, and cling unto that which profiteth mankind, whether young or old, whether high or low. "
