all this online chat & texting has me worried what is the next step in evolution?
I am not a huge fan of C.S. Lewis, but he wrote a book entitled, “The Great Divorce”. It speaks of societies movement towards de-personalization, in leiu of modernities quest to produce a uni-thinking world. So, the result of one dominant form of thought is that, the domination system co-opts that one form and utilizes it for its purposes, and this “Domination System” perceives varying ways of thought as competition, which in the end must be suppressed. Remember what happened to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The mere language he used, caused the Dominant System to assert itself and crush his language, which this system had never heard before. Noam Chomsky, a very famous linguist talks at length about this premise. If we do not allow for language to develop among one another, people will feel more and more isolated, resulting in a deepening sub-cultures, which will then be impossible to understand. Interesting, huh?

I think you are right, without human contact and interpersonal communication we will get crazy. I live in a new area and I do not have friends or family here. I only get to leave my house 2 to 4 hours a week, and the only people I get to talk to are the cashiers at the places I shop. It makes it very hard for me to live here.
