How does self-concept, perception, and emotion impact interpersonal communication?

Need help for an assignment, need more input.

Interpersonal communication is a communication between 2 persons. Part of your mind (Some call it the Superior ego) tends to evaluate u and interferes with the way you present yourself. If that part is dissatisfied and disturbed, it will condemn the "You" and will taint your output with that condemnation. i.e. it will add negativity to the way you present yourself in the interpersonal communication.

This almost sounds like a cognitive question.

1a)Positive self concept is more likely to lead to positive perceptions of stimuli/ input.
1b)Negative self concept is more likey to lead to negative perceptions of stimuli/input.
2a)Positive self concept with a negative perception may lead to negative emotion which will have minor to no imact on self concept.
2b)Negative self concept with a positive perception is likely to have no to minor effect on selfconcept.
2c)A positive self concept and a positive perception leads to a reinforcing positive emotion.
2d)A negative self concept and a negative perception lead to a reinforcing negative emotion.
The emotion in 2c & 2d is reinforcing the prevalent self conept.

Cognitive therapy can alter the effects of emotions if they are sabotaging the self concept by cognitively examining and altering the perceptions, as they are the point at which change can be specifically addressed.

Either way the emotion that is experienced will reinforce positive or negative self concept. However, emotion will not do much to alter self concept from positive to negative and vica versa, as the emotion is an effect. Perception plays more of a causal role!
To examine the effects on interpersonal communication look for a theorist like Kelly and start from there! This part of your assignment can be structured quite easily into the type of format I have used but I ain't doin it… : )) Look for info on Cognitive theories, altering cognitions, perceptions, self concept… etc.
    Good luck!
